This seasonal connection marks a significant development for Marco Polo Airport, which will see three weekly flights to China's economic capital.

The official confirmation of the direct flight from Venice to Shanghai has recently been announced, following a visit to Shanghai by Enrico Marchi, President of the Save Group, and Camillo Bozzolo, Director of Aviation Development.
The green light was given by CAAC (Civil Aviation Authority of China) and ENAC. Ticket sales are already open, and the flight will operate year-round.
Impact on traffic and local economy
This new direct flight represents a major milestone for the Save Group, which manages Italy's third-largest intercontinental airport.
China Eastern Airlines' decision to launch the non-stop route was influenced by the high volumes of passengers and cargo between Italy and China, even without a direct line.
In 2019, Marco Polo Airport recorded over 150,000 passengers traveling between Venice and China via connecting flights. With the direct flight, a substantial increase in these numbers is expected, boosting passenger and cargo flows.
Traffic forecast and economic benefits
It is estimated that the direct flight from Venice to Shanghai will transport approximately 70,000 passengers in its first year.
This connection will help expand flows from Venice to all of China and beyond, representing a significant economic opportunity for the city and the region.
